An Afternoon at the Illinois Holocaust Museum

This library-sponsored trip will take us to Skokie, IL, for an afternoon at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center. Transportation costs (bus) and museum entrance fees will be provided.

On Sunday afternoon, June 9, the Wood Dale Public Library will escort a group to the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center.

The library will provide round-trip transportation (school bus) and museum entrance fees.  Participants will also receive a 10% discount on merchandise purchased in the museum gift shop.

The bus will leave the library parking lot at 11:55 a.m. and return to the parking lot at 5:30 p.m.

At the museum, we will be escorted throughout the afternoon by museum docents to guide us, share information, and respond to questions. Our trip will include a tour of the Zev and Shifra Kartomi Holocaust Exhibition, a virtual reality film experience, an interactive hologram experience with Holocaust survivors, and a tour of the special exhibit Kindertransport – Rescuing Children on the Brink of War.  Tour participants will also receive a 10% discount on gift shop items.

The tour will take approximately 4 hours.

This is a tour for adults. Based on recommendations from the museum regarding specific exhibits, children under the age of 12 will not be admitted.

Be aware that transportation will be on a school bus – no air-conditioning, no restrooms. The trip to the museum takes about 35 minutes.
